Members of the KHC team participated in JA in a Day on February 18, 2016. JA in a Day is a part of the Junior Achievement’s JA Our Nation® – a program that introduces fifth-grade students to the intersection of work readiness and upper elementary grades’ social studies learning objectives. KHC worked with a class of fifth graders at Bluejacket Flint Elementary School in Shawnee, Kansas to present economics lessons.
“It was a very rewarding experience,” said Colleen Wysong, Director of Operations at KHC. “The kids were really engaged.”
This was the second year in a row we’ve teamed up with the Junior Achievement organization – a volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12th grade network of programs designed to foster work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, using experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential.
Joni Lindquist, CFP and Principal at KHC, agreed that that the event was a success, although it did have some challenges, “The temperature outside reached 70 degrees and we had some fidgety students!”
